An AI companion robot, an in-car robot, a pet feeder, a watch and a speaker look like unrelated businesses. Underneath they are the same three problems: read the world with sensors, decide something on-device, and stay connected without eating the battery.
We invested in those three capabilities rather than in any single product category, and in working across four silicon tiers rather than defending one architecture. Most projects that reach us now are AI robots — desktop companions, in-car assistants, devices for children and for elderly care — and underneath they are one problem set: far-field voice, on-device inference, power and heat. A client can bring us a category we have not built before without either side starting from zero.
It also means we say no to projects that need a capability we do not have. Being explicit about that has cost us orders and saved our clients far more.
